Duratrac Highway Manners?
I've read and read, and then read some more about Duratrac tires. Seems like there aren't any off-road issues with them except possibly a bit of sidewall weakness.
But, a lot of tire reviewers say these tires handle like a boat on pavement. That's one of my least favorite things about a tire. I've taken tires off because of sloppy highway manners where it always feels like a rear tire is going flat.
Now, most of these reviewers seem to be driving large light trucks like long wheelbase one-tons and such.
Do Duratracs also act this way on a Wrangler?
Thanks!

I am on a set of 33x12.5 DT's for almost a full year.
I find them to be without fault. On pavement, which is 80% of my driving, they track perfectly fine, offer a confident feel have zero wander... no mushy response. They are super quiet as well.
Though the NE saw very little snow this year, when we did have some accumulation, the DT's exceeded my expectations.
Soft pack and sand make up the balance of my driving and here to.. zero complaints.

I have had 2 sets of Duratracs, 275/65R18 and now 33x12.5x15. Both have seen long road trips and offroad use. They are fine on pavement at any speed. Central BC to Moab last week and back again. Even with the higher sidewalls the 33s felt stable and were quiet at 75 mph.
Ever drive a boat? They steer from the back end. Four-wheeled vehicles aren't supposed to feel like they steer from the back (unless yer driving a forklift). Some tires feel like the back end is sqwirming sideways when you steer anywhere but straight.
I've had tires that act that way. Take 'em off without changing anything else and its all good. Many of the Duratrac reviews I've read describe that feeling exactly.
Like I said, most of those reviews are for larger light trucks - but I want to be sure the Wrangler doesn't act that way on Duratracs.
BTW, does anyone run 285 Duratracs on the stock 17" X 7.5" wheel?

I run 285's on 17" black rock 909s that I got from DTD. They do not ride like a boat, but they are definitely different from the stock ATs. You will notice it in tight corners. I need to drop a little more speed than I used to but it's not because the back-end is floating out. It feels like it's the wider footprint that does it if that makes any sense. Not a big deal though and I'd buy them again for sure. They are good in the snow but I thought the stock ATs had a slightly better grip. We have lots of icy hills here in NE and I have never had a problem with the Duratracs. You'll get lots of compliments too.

I have 285 75 R16 duratracs and the day I put them on I took a 3 hour road trip from Cheyenne Wyoming to Colorado Springs, Colorado. I had no complaints about highway noise or feeling like I was driving a boat. One thing that I did notice is that my jeep felt heavier, maybe due to the steel rims as well. Just my opinion
I have 33" Duratracs (E load rating) and drive the highway to work (60 miles a day) at 65-75 mph on average. They are fantastic on the road with no bad manners.
Compared to the BFG MTs that were on it before, you'd think you were driving a plush luxury SUV--and quiet too.
