I need a little assistance finding a part for my factory Dana 44 E-lockers. The plug on the end of the actuator on the inside of the housing rubbed up against the gears and is damaged. Does anyone know the part # and vendor for a replacement plug? Just to be clear, not the plug that connects to the outside of the housing, but the one that plugs into the pass-through on the inside.
how badly is that damaged? I'm not sure they sell that plug as a pigtail or anything outside of buying an entire actuator, but you could rig this up pretty dirty. That plastic piece that is bolted on top of the diff is simply a bridge from the internal plug to the external one. You could remove that and simply make a connection with 2 wires on the internal side of it and then fill in the cavity with expoxy. Then, you'd just need make a connection with those wires to the two wires leading to the actuator....something you could connect together and disconnect if you ever need to pull the locker out. Not the ideal solution, but practically no cost and would work.
I can certainly understand that. Most people would not want to, but I suspect outside of spending a boatload of money, that might be your option if you want a working locker. To be clear, I believe this is the plug you have mangled -
And also to be clear, what it plugs into is simply a bridge through the diff -
And all you need to do is be able to connect the two wires coming from the locker actuator to the two metal leads in the bottom of that "sensor connector". It's a pretty cheap fix, though not what you desire. Maybe someone else will have a better option.
