Default E Rated KM2

Hello all, I recently put some new tires on 255/85r16 KM2's and ,unbeknownst to me, they are E rated . They are skinny 34's and max pressure is 80 psi. Right now they are filled to 40psi, was wondering if they could be brought down lower. Any thoughts appreciated

You can readily drop the air pressure to something more palatable in the 30 psi range.

The higher load range extends the load capacity across the air pressure range, so you will have the ability to carry a higher load than the D range tires many of us run at 28-30 psi.

do a tire chalk test to see what pressure you should run. if you don't know what that is google it and you will know soon enough. a little bit of effort now will be well worth it when your tires last 1000 of extra miles. over inflation and under inflation cause excessive heat and wear.

Mine are similar in size to yours and are "E" too. I run at 30psi and it is not bad. Can tell the difference from 35 to 30.

Well, the bumps are a little more noticable now, but over all, I am happy with them. They have been good in mud as well as in the rain and on dry road. I will know this weekend how they do on rocks and sand after this next weekend, but I am not anticipating any problems. On a side note, I do not air down, so I am not worried about the E rated sidewalls not bulging very much. I have nothing against airing down, I just have never done it (unless it is very loose sand) and have been trained not to deflate.

I run E's at 30 PSI on a 2dr... Small buggers ... 245/75r16... No problems, nice ride and can get 35k with enough lug for decent mud, maybe another 10k before I start think about replacements... then maybe another 5k if I'm feeling cheap
