I am having my eatos installed at a shop here in salt lake city. They guy doing the install says their shop has done about 300 eaton e lockers and havent had a problem since eaton upgraded some of the mechanics of the locker a year or two ago. I guess I will find out after he installs everything on tuesday. He is also doing 4'88 gears so I am excited.

I also was thinking about the ARB lockers untill he talked me out of em. Told me the Eatos hold up just fine and we dont have to deal with a compressor or air lines. So I drank the Kool aid so I will take the locker to the wood shed in moab and see what it can do.

Good luck. The design change Eaton did was to add a larger snap ring (and groove) to keep the stator assembly from getting pushed off when engaging. The issue is strength- pure and simple. When compared to other 44 selectables, GKN (the factory Rubi locker), ARB and OX all use a 4 pinion design. Eaton has a 2 pinion design. These comments do nor relate to the D30. It is a great 4 pinion design.

I guess if it ends up failing I will have to go with arb but I am going to cross my fingers. I think I will run the eaton up from in my 30 if I don't have problems in the rear. Unless I wanna come up either the cash for a bolt in Rubi 44 up front. Its never ending but I guess that's part of the fun. I need to get my 35"s now cause I put 4 88 gears in. Then do either the terraflex 3 in or the Rubi express 3.5. Then bumpers and winch then when it's all done probably want another new jeep.

I hear ya. But that could be way pricy. Dude I have been runnin the 4.10 gears for a while and since your running the 3.21 you would see a big difference however once you lift your jeep and throw some 35's on there you will want more gear than 4.10. Dude I don't think the Dana 30 gets enough credit I am just going to throw another locker up there if my eaton works out. You will want to regearing when you do a locker cause it's already got your dif open so might as well. I will let you know how this eaton and 4.88 work out. I pick it up tomorrow so I am excited.

The mopar 44's are out of the question, $6000 CDN for front and rear and thats at employee pricing! I'm gonna go see my shop down the street later today and see what they have to say about lockers. If I lift its gonna be 2 inches max and im not gonna go any bigger than 33's im quite happy with them, 4.10's are the way to go for me but they arent freaking cheap.

Got my jeep back from advanced 4 wheel drive yesterday. Messed around with the locker last night and it works perfect. The 4.88 gears are freakin crazy cause I am runnin 33's but dude my crawl ratio is Lot better now and for highway driving once I get my 35's my I rpms will drop a bit. If your never going bigger than 33 then ya the 4.10 would be cool. FYI this shop in Utah is called advanced 4x4 and I saw like 5 other jk's in there they have done over 300 of the eaton elocker and said never sees a pro lem unless people abuse it and engGe it going like 50 mph or while they are under serious bind like tire spinning on trail and don't At leat stop tires the engage the locker.
