I'm doing a gear swap this winter and from what I've been told, any gear installs should be done by a pro. someone who does gears and only gears! they're easy to do wrong and you will have all sorts of headaches soon after.

as for the e-locker, its a eaton product. they do very well and make good lockers/limited slips. truetrac, detroit locker for example. i might lean towards the e-locker because its selectable and its less intense to install compared to a ARB air locker. thats about it. ARB air lockers are awesome , but you do need to buy an air compressor in order to lock them up. $$$. go for it, you can't go wrong. being electrical, you could have " electrical problems " . sometimes they can be a pain in the ass. but get someone to install it!! a pro!!

I have a Eaton tru-trac in the rear and a Eaton E locker in the front. And NO you'll not be able to install them yourself. On 2012 and 13 the ring gear is drilled for 1/2 bolts Eaton's lockers are drilled for 7/16 bolts you'll need a shop that can drill out the harden carrier for you.
I have posted this on a few different forums got into a few arguments with some guys. I even wrote Eaton to ask them when they were going to change there hole size all I got was it's a planed move but no time line. So I had a gear shop here drill mine out. If anyone tells you that it will bolt right in you'll be sorry because it won't I have no idea why jeep changed this in 12 and 13. If you don't want to drill it out you will need to change the ring gear for a 2011 or older one.

This change to my jeep has made all the difference, I'm not a rock crawler or mud runner. We hill climb with our jeeps.
I seem to do a lot of reading on this forum but not much posting, I seem to post in another forum more.
I did look at all other options for my lockers and went to a jeep club and asked them also. For me Eaton was my best choice for how I use my Jeep.

I have a factory installed rubicon rear e-locker and I have had occasional problems with both that and the electronic front sway bar disco. So far it's always been covered under my diamond warranty but I'm getting nervous as the warranty only has a couple more years. Good luck. Let me know if you want more specifics.

I had an eaton E locker on my last rig. I beat the crap out of it no problems ever. As soon as I get the cash I'm locking up my rear with eaton.

How do you like the tru trac in the rear. I hear a lot of different things about tru tracs in the rear but always from someone who isn't running the rear tru trac. What has your experience been?
