Default Eaton E. Locker for Dana 30

According to the december Four Wheler Mag, Eaton now has e locker available for the new Dana 30 axles with 27or 31 splines. i am interested in using in my 07 Sahara. Comments vs getting a new dana 44 from Mopar? vs other options?

I have an Eaton E-locker in my 05 F-150 and it works great. Never failed me.

The elocker will probably cost you around $750 plus installation which is not a DIY affair (figure $200 at least). For $1400, you can buy the stronger D44 axle with the factory locker already built in. The axle bolts right in, so you can basically install it yourself and save some $$$. The only issue I see is the ring and pinion. I believe the new D44 comes with 4:10. You would have to change your other axle to 4.10 as well which is additional cost.

I dunno, its not an easy call. Depending on the type of wheeling you do, the stronger axle might be worth the extra cost. However, I have heard you can beef up the D30 with a 30 or 35 spline ARB locker and new axle shafts and it will be pretty strong. Anybody vouch for this?

As far as locker are concerned, there are other brands for the rear D30:

1) Ox locker
2) Aussie Locker (non selectable)
3) Detroit Locker (non selectable)

no the mopar 44 does not include the electric sway bar disco, two entirely different things. Another $1000, not worth it IMHO. As far as I am aware you do need the wiring harness as well as the control that is inside the vehicle ( the button)

I agree, i have manual disco now and am fine with that, didn't want to pay for any extra stuff other than the axle with built in locker. i was asking because the wiring harness includes the disco and lockers, wondering if I only need the lockers , could I get by with wiring directly to a switch with fuse on the aftermarket switch panel I already have for my lights etc.?

I have heard folks complain about corrosion of the factory ediso leading to failures. I would hate to drop a grand only to have it corrode and no longer work.

Actually, replacing the carrier assembly is not difficult at all. If the gearset is not being changed, it's fairly easy.
