Default Eautotuning Cold Air Intakes

Does anyone have intel on these Eautotuning engine accessories? Specifically, the Cold Air Intake for the 07-09 JKs. There are many auctions on ebay selling these things for less than $100 and Im trying to figure the catch. Like the quality sucks or no notable engine power increase was observed, etc. Usually, prices this low reflect quality but all the buyer reviews are good. Anyone try it out yet???? Thoughts???

I just picked up a Volant in the for sale performance section. I can say that even that intake has me wondering the big question, will it suck in water?

Most intakes will normally come with a shroud that will protect them from water splashing up and getting sucked into your intake. The reason I went with the Volant is because it is surrounded (mainly) and has good looks (carbon fiber lid). I would save the money and put it towards a better intake set up. I know that $65 sounds like a good deal but you can find better on here. Not cheaper but a good deal on a name brand intake.

Now if you still go with this intake setup, I would at least put a prefilter on there. I would try a company like outerwears or something along the lines of that. It is more difficult to find pre filters for non name brand filters but you can always give them the dimensions and they can find something similar.

Try to find something name brand that has a little more protection from the elements. Alot of people will tell you not to run one because of Hydrolock but I had one on my TJ and just put one on my JK. Hope this helps and good luck

Default Thanks

I honestly didnt even think about the sucking in of water. Here in AZ thats not foremost on our minds, except in the monsoon season, but a very valid concern. Ill keep doing research. Besides the volant is there a CAI that does work well without the water issue???

i have a volant just because i planned on doing their snorkle until it came out and looked like a leach! but the box has surpised me and does keep water out. I have ended up in some surprisingly deep holes and no problems.

I ran the K&N on my TJ and liked it alot ($223.00 shipped on ebay for the JK). I saw a post for the S&B and that looked nice and was enclosed. I guess the other side of the story is dust for you. A prefilter would also help filter out dust and larger particles that get stuck in the grooves of the air filter. aFe also makes a nice intake that matches up nice with their high tuck off road exhaust. If you pair your intake with an exhaust you'll definately notice some mpg increase. Most of these intakes run pretty high but if you keep an eye out in the for sale section you might have some luck. I definately wouldn't go cheap because you might end up dropping some coin on other problems from lack of filtration.

And yes, Volants snorkle looks like dog crap!
