I was just using my 09 Rubi the other weekend for the first time off road. I read the manual (oh after I went) but found out that it works in both 4H&L. You put it into 4wd then select the sway bar disconnect. It will flash at you until it disconnects. The requirement is for uneven road that would cause the disconnect. The light will go steady when it's disconnected. You also feel (especially in real rutty areas) that the front end is real loose and floating. If you go 19 mph or higher the sway bar will reconnect on it's own, and the light will flash continuously. This is due to safety reasons according to Jeep.

Go here to see how it works, and why you may need to move to get it to disconnect/re-connect:

Thank you very much for you advice...what ever you have suggested worked perfectly .Both disconnecting or connecting required the car to be driven for few feet and sometimes turning the wheels left and right.
I would like to thank everyone for the suggestions which made me more knowledgable .
