Default elka or 5160's

Ok, i know that shocks have been covered allot (i think iv read every shock thread the net has to offer ) but im about to order a new set of shocks to go with my 2.5 teraflex coil kit.

I have narrowed my selection down to two, the bilstien 5160 and the elkas. i was also eying rancho[s but dont really want to have to bother with adjustment.

here are my current thoughts/?'s ...

- i will admit that i am buying these mainly for looks. im afraid that the 5160's will just blent into the background being so plain.

- i have seen pics of rusted 5160's and dont want a shock that is to rust

- are the elkas really worth more money?

-which will give a smoother ride?

- i notice that not allot of people are running the 5160's

So whats the call here guys elkas or bilstien? any thoughts will help.

I've been reading alot too on shocks... Looking to get new ones also.
I remember reading alot of guys like the elka's and fox shocks...., or the more basic bilstein 5100 BUT remember reading one post( only one on the 5160) that is leaked and they would never buy them again.

I'm loving my adjustable Rancho RS900XL's. Funny story that just happened today. I set my mobile phone on my rear bumper leaving lunch today. Exiting the parking area I went over 4 speed bumps. I realized my phone was not present and it dawned on me that I'd left it on my bumper so I stopped, got out and went back there expecting my phone to be gone. But there it was safe and sound. I think is speaks pretty well for the ride of the Rancho lift and shocks.

Cheers!

I have a funny story too. I left my cell phone sitting on the front fender of my jeep and drove to Napa (which was closed) and back. When I got out at my shop I saw my phone laying there. I was like oops. I have skyjacker's and 3 of them are blown. I will sell them cheap. Hah

I am interested in knowing as well. I had the adjustable ProComps on my F250 and liked them but I know people are not hot on ProComp. I'll get what I want but figure I can benefit from the experience of others...

Why are the bilsteen's so popular? Are they that good or are the good for the price?

Thanks.

those are really great looking, and i do like the idea of being ready coil overs when the time eventually comes but at 750 a shock they are a little out of my price range.

the elkas are nice especially if you plan on doing a lot of fast driving in the desert but, for around town, i found mine to be a little harsh.
