Default Emergency brake cables

Is everyone just removing the wire hanger that holds the emergency brake cables up top, using drop kits for the hanger, or what? Under flex, mine get pretty tight. I noticed that the hanger might give it a bit of slack if I removed it, but the fuel filler hose (I think) crosses over right there too, so would that allow it to put too much pressure on that hose? Or would it be better to relocate the cables under that crossmember piece and fab up some way to hold them up while giving them more slack? Ideas?
