Engage 4WD while working on Jeep?
I'm wondering whether it would be wise to engage 4-HI while working on my Jeep. When I install my lift I will have the entire rear axle off the ground. That means the e-brake won't be doing any good.
My thinking is that I can put it in 1st to get a bit of extra protection against the Jeep rolling back, but that this will only help if the front axle is engaged by putting it in 4-HI.
I'll also be using big wheel chocks, but since my garage floor has a small slope (6" over a 20' span), I'd like to get some extra protection from the gears.
Stupid idea? Any reason not to do this?

One word of warning: In 4-Lo, in gear, the engine will start. You do not have to step on the clutch. I only point this out because one member forgot this and had someone turn the key for him. The Jeep started and rolled off the jackstand, across the driveway and into a fence.
I don't know if this is true of 4-Hi.
