It lacks power, runs good, but I keep hearing about this hemi swap deal. Some say ten grand other are saying 18 k idk who to believe. I was just wondering if there is any way I can suck more power out of this thing, the worst part is its an automatic!

Tuner and regear will give the best performance increase with a minimal investment. If you are set on keeping the 3.8, forced induction and long tubes are the ticket.

not a bad idea to have a back plan but I hope your OEM engine last for another 100k. if you are really worried you could always trade in your Jeep and get a newer one with less miles.

If its all about money that would be cheaper than any swap. However if I was going to swap I would do the 5.3 LS but that's just me.

10K is usually the price quoted for those who shop around and do all the labor themselves. 18K is about what you will pay to have a shop do a 5.7 swap for you.

As mentioned, a tuner and regear is your best bang for the buck. Next is forced induction.

And your are right, the 42le was not Chrysler's best move...

I hydrolocked my 3.8. I rebuilt my engine myself so I saved on labor. But I spent only around $600 on the parts. It really wasn't too bad. I left the in engine in the engine bay as well.

Were you impressed with a power increase? Or not much difference?

Unfortunately not much difference in power really. A lot smoother running and response but that's about it...
