Yea of coarse. Hopefully I'll save someone time. It took me about a month and a half to come to this conclusion.

Man @resharp001 you are getting me worried about my regear soon. Ill be going to 5.38 and if you are getting that hot of temps in DFW then i am screwed down here on the coastal bend. Wonder what else we could do to try to cool that 3.6L down more

There are a lot of x-factors. I have a stinger and winch in front, which surely doesn't help with air getting to the radiator, but I do think the biggest factor is just the ambient temps. I went to Arkansas the other weekend and had my BullyDog plugged in so was monitoring temps. Noticed I was running 206*-210* on average with temps in the 60's while running 3k rpm. When those temps get up above 102* I think it just gets to be a struggle. My BullyDog has the ability to override the fan to high, but you have to do it each time you start the vehicle. In the summer, if I was going on a longer road trip, I just got in the habit of flipping that sucker on which helped a good bit. There was also a big difference just slowing down a bit and getting the engine from 3k rpm down to 2700 or so. I'm going to watch it closer this summer, but it's harder for me since it's not really a DD.

Ya, mine is my DD. Granted i only drive 10 minutes to work, but the entire drive is on the highway. I have a winch covering up also. Welp looks like we all need to start doing some rear mounted rads to keep the engine cool lol.

Superchips allows you to set the fan temps permanently on the 3.8, maybe the 3.6 as well. Any word on the JScan app Russ?

I really haven't had much time to play around with that more after having initial issues and going back to the BullyDog. I should try it again......but anytime I mess with my dang BullyDog, uninstalling or changing things, I feel like I'm playing with fire.

I have the Jscan also, love that app. I havent had an issue with it. Have changed tire sizes and some other small stuff. I used it the other day when winching to turn my jeeps idle up. I also plan on using in the next year or so when i go to my tons, to change the abs tooth count and gears

I have the superchips TD2 and I haven't been able to see where I can adjust the temps. I have the 3.6 but maybe I am overlooking it. Where is the option for you? and what is this JScan app?

Default Thinking of going to 4.88s

I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this and if I need to look into replacing my thermostat or doing a coolant flush or any other advice. I understand with the new gears I run higher RPMs, but my temp starts to creep while at idle. Just want to figure out if there is an issue before summer comes around and I have a tough time cooling my motor.

Thanks for any help and advice!!
Do you mind if I ask where did you go for the re-gear and what did it cost you parts and labor? What brand?

Just a heads up that the re-gear should not effect idle speed temps at all.

I had Adam's Jeep dealership in Aberdeen MD do my regear. I bought yukon gears for about $500 from FB marketplace and my pricing isn't good to base your budget on for labor, I know a guy that works at the dealership that's gives me good pricing on labor. But they do great work and would recommend them to anyone. Just dont know what it would cost normally.

And yea I figured put why my motor was idling warm. It's in this thread somewhere. Thanks though
