Default engine swap

I have no idea about this but I wonder if you cold swap in the 4.7 from a grandcherokee and get decent hp torque and mileage with out going to a full 5.7 hemi? It just seems to me the hemi might be overkill. Any thoughts? just wondering.

Sounds logical to me. What are the HP and torque spec's for the 4.7?

2008+ 4.7s have 302hp and 329tq I believe.

I've wondered about this also, as they would weigh much less than the Hemi swap also.

Edit: JP lists the 4.7 on their top 10 dumbest jeep engine swaps. But that was before the 300+hp version was available so I dont know.

Unless you have a 4.7 engine laying around, just slap a Ls1 in there and call it a day. And.....get like 25 mpg if you keep ur foot out of it.
