Engine swap
I have 105k on the 07 jk and am thinking seriously about swapping in a 5.7 hemi. I know it can be done, but is it worth the trouble and expense? I have a 6 speed and 35 inch tires currently.
Many threads on this already. Brew some coffee and use the search button to find the best information from reliable or first hand sources.
To answer your question in short, There are many different swaps varying from 10k-20k. Some will side with Super Chargers and others will continue to back V8 swaps and there are others who are now dabbling in Turbo chargers. Diesel swaps are becoming more common as well.
Is it worth it? depends on how much you love your Jeep and how much money you have to play with.

I'm not looking to get a monster engine!! Mine is mostly a daily driver with a few times playing in the mud and climbing a few mountains. I probably need a new clutch and figured it was time to swap out the engine as well. My wife will NEVER let me sell the jeep!!! LOL
Finding the Engine isn't the problem. It is the labor in configuring the engine bay and tuning all the electronic work and mounting of the new engine and tranny. Plus there is the new computer, radiator, all the little things as well.4
I'm in your shoes as well with over 113,000 on the odometer and i'm waiting the day she dies.
The most realistic option is to replace with a low mileage 3.8L and if the budget allows add a SC to it.

Are you doing the work yourself? The swap kits are in the 5-6k range, plus the engine/trans/whatever else. If you are paying labor, 15-20k seems fairly average.
You should probably look into LS swaps as well. There are quite a few stories of Hemi's overheating in JK's, the LS's seem to have more favorable reviews. Check out Motechs website for some info if you're interested.

Your always gonna get people saying one is better than the other. I did the 6.4 hemi swap 3 years ago and I have not had any overheating issues and know lots of others that haven't either. I wouldn't say my swap has been problem free. My catalytic converters were toast in the first year. I went through 3 aev radiators but they were all manufacturer defects and ended up sourcing my own rad and it has been problem free.
My buddy has been working on an ls swap in his spare time for over a year and just towed his rig from Canada down to motech in las Vegas for them to finish it up due to electrical issues. I've heard of other people doing the same thing.
Do your research and you will make the right decision.
Every option out there has its advantages and disadvantages. Either one are equally good swaps.
