Default Engine ups grades

Has anyone out there actual done a engine up grade by boring,cam upgrade and heads for the JK's are the parts even out yet and how power would be gianed.

I'm tired of everyone saying put a hemi or just supercharge it

I hsve had the same thoughts. I have not looked into yet, I am very interested in finding out. I to am tired of the same reply of "get a hemi, or supercharge it". Not to mention the cost of these options.

If you think about the cost of the parts that you'll need to do a decent build, it'll definitely be in the thousands. Then, consider the machine work and paying for a quality job to a decent engine builder, again, in the thousands.

AEV's Hemi kit for $5,300...enough said.

A 60 degree v6 does not take to mods very well.

I have heard that the bottom end is not very strong for holding much hp also.

For the money spent on forged crank/rods/pistons, Head work etc. you could have a hemi.

I don't think there are any aftermarket parts for the engine. Unless you consider CAIs, throttle body spacers and headers as engine parts.

Well thats $5300 plus the price of the motor right? so you're up over $10k.

Its not a good engine to start a build with. You could do it if you really wanted, but like others have stated already the cost to build it up to get similar numbers out of the options you are sick of hearing, will be close. There are some fast or powerful v6 engines out there but they cost as much and sometimes more than a v8. You would want a 90* v6 we have 60* v6s. Again if you dont like the other options that are out there because of the price, you wont find it any easier with your stock engine. The amount of time and money to do the R&D, you could already be driving a Hemified JK.

My thoughts exactly. It goes 75-80 down the freeway just fine. It has eough passing power. Ad off road, what will you do with all the hemi power?

True, I did not think about that when I posted, but you are right. Maybe I should pull all the computer stuff out and put in a chevy 350 (lol)
