Engine wont shut off in high water

WTF?!?...I dont see how that could happen, unless some way somehow ice was shorting out the ignition system via the starter connections... You may need an exorcist.
Jeeps don't have a water detection sensor.

Should switch off, in your case you were lucky that the engine kept running. OK to prevent hydraulicing your engine you want to switch it off but if your air intake is not under water, don't just keep on driving (unless it gets deeper.......)
