Engo vs. Warn
So, I am looking to get a winch. I am at this point looking to get the Engo 10,000 with Syn. rope for $479.00 ship included. Th Warn M8000 with wire for 699.00. My sticking point is if the Engo breaks something in 1-4 years are they going be around for replacement part, as to Warns time in market, worth the extra money and piece of mind?
People will bag on Engo. I purchased an E9000 because of winch shootout I read. Warn is an awesome product. I did purchase due to pricing and very good reviews. I have never had a winch and wanted one for just in case I need one. I mainly do logging and service roads and do not do any extreme rock crawling for fear I just might like it. Have not used mine yet. I do not have synthetic line just steel.
I was told the company was started by an employee of Warn. Don't know it that is true or matters.

I have had a Warn hs9500i hanging off the front of my 4x4's for over 13 years now. It is still pulling strong, and I know I can get parts for it if/when it ever does break down.
That said, if I was in the market for another winch, I think I would be taking a chance on an Engo or one of the other lower cost alternatives.
And thats my question! When you do have a problem are they still going to be around to get part for your winch? Warn, has been around and should still be there for you.
Is it a one time deal and throw away and get another or get the parts to fix it(Warn)?

When shopping for many things i'll notice that a lot of companies are being compared to one single manufacturer of a similar product
then i tend to compare the companies etc.
i found a fair price on a Warn vm-10000-s and i just felt better about choosing the warn vs. the other choices
time will tell how well my investment holds up...

Wow, color me surprised! I clicked on this thread expecting a full on fight between Engo and Warn owners and find a bunch of reasonable, well thought, conscientious replies... Go JKF!
To the OP, I would think how important is that winch for you, how much you will use it, and for how long do you want to keep it. I have an Engo 12K with a steel cable that I bought for around $350. It stays in my garage because it's mounted on a hitch cradle as I only install it when I go wheeling, which is not often. Last winter we got snow for about two hours total here in Charlotte and we were driving my wife's Fiat 500 when it happened!
An Engo is enough for me but as it was mentioned before, only you can know what will be best for you.

I have had my Engo 10k for about to years with over 30 pulls. I have used it in 20 degree to 100+ degree weather. I have made both easy and very challenging pulls. Sure the finish wore off in a couple of months and its a little loud but I could care less. All I can say is that it has never let me down and I would do it all over again at this price point.
Forgot to mention the free spool on the Engo is super easy and smooth unlike the Smittybuilt winches I've had to pull line on.
