Default vibrations

Disconnect your front driveline from your front axle and use a wire hanger to pull up and out of the way. Keep your jeep in 2WD and take it for a drive. Your front driveshaft will not spin as long as you are in 2WD.

If this takes the vibration away then you have found your issue. If not then reconnect your front driveline and then COMPLETLEY remove your rear driveline. Put your Jeep in 4WD high and go for a drive. If the vibration goes away then it is your rear driveline.

Hope this helps

Good idea, but I would take it completely out. if something happens and the shaft drops, its not going to be good.

You can always pull the rear drive shaft and then take it for a ride in 4wd and see if the problem goes away.

We did this a few days ago, didn't remove either front or rear, just put it in 4H driving down the road around 20 - 40 MPH. Still vibrating .....

that wouldnt have made a difference, its spinning eitherway in 2wd or 4h.

If your U-joint is toast already, IMO you have something going on. Did they check your pinion angle?

long ago a friend and myself were involved in a joke that included taping a roll of pennies to a drive shaft. wobble wobble wobble blang! ting! bing! bong! It sounded like the rear end blow up. It only took a couple of beatings to make it funny

We are taking it in tommorow. I called the shop that did all the major modifications on my jeep for me when I was on the West Coast, asked him about it and he couldn't give me an straight answer. I went back to my reciepts and spent 900$ almost on driveshafts and Yokes, he said that they're still stock, just with a conversion kit for the joints and yokes???

Top of the list is the pinion angle when I go in .. thats been bugging me since I last really drove it anywhere, except arrands well went offroad.

SOOOOO ... that being said, I am going to have the dealership look everything over twice ... just to make sure. It won't be driving for a while ... least to say I am not going to JK Fest!

You need to remove the rear driveshaft from the vehicle to test this...
