Default Esp?

I dont know what happened last night. I was pulling out of my pakring lot and then the ESP light came flashing on while I was making a straight drive, left turn, and another few feet straight. Gas was not responding the jeep felt like it had the E-Brake on. I got out and looked and there was no ice. My tires are at 35psi each. I understand sharp turns can trigger it, but this was a wide and lazy turn.

Any ideas? This is the first "serious" one. I've had it happen several times briefly. I am thinking about disabling the ESP completely and leaving it like that. (I don't believe in "stability control"). Would it also disable the ABS?

If you slipped your tires a little bit it coud turn it on. Then it would go into the "de-power" mode until it felt that full traction had been restored.

This is happening too often. I know that when tires slip, it does cut power a bit. But this time it felt like the brakes were being applied. Pavement was completely dry as well.

Anyone know if disabling ESP will disable ABS as well? I can deal with the ESP Off idiot light for a few seconds at startup, but would like to keep my ABS.

Disconecting the ESP will disconect the ABS as well.

I have had plenty of problems with mine too.

Alright, I can deal without ABS. My ESP is driving me nuts. One tiny ice patch and my Jeep "slams" on the brakes on its own.

When you hit the switch for the ESP to turn it off you are only partially dissabling it. If you hold the switch in for 10 seconds then it TOTALLY dissables the ESP until the ignition is turned off or you hit the switch again. I'm assuming then according to AMCJeff that the ABS might only be partially disengaging.

Have you had any abs problems as well, like the abs coming on during normal braking on a dry road?

This is not true. The ABS will still be active.
