Default ESP ABS Shut off

So I have been having issues with my jeep off roading... So I thought. Everytime I pressed ESP and tried doing donuts in the snow/mud the engine would rev down and I was getting robbed horse power. Plus it's just plain out annoying! Now u have two options. Option one u can just pull the fuse off and on but lets face it that's annoying. Second option you can add a rocker switch. I added mine next to the shift knob. You will have to disassemble the counsel and that's a pain in the butt FYI.

Now there's wires next the driver side. You want the purple wire with light blue on it and make sure it's not the dark blue one. This should be a single wire. Some wires are wrapped with a white wire just ignore those. Once u cut the purple and light blue wire turn your jeep on and see if the lights on the dash come on. This will prove you have cut the right wire. Then cut out a spot for you rocker and you're all set!

When the rocker is set to where everything comes up on your dash you are ready to go. Once you turn it off, the lights will stay on. Don't be scared just turn your jeep off and it will reset. Also the ESP button will still work normal so everything is good. Now I'm not a professional or anything near. I might be wrong about how I chose to do this but it works amazingly. Thanks and see ya on the trails!

I did the same but with a momentary button switch. You only have to break the circuit for a second for it to work. I hid mine up under the little "ledge" right above the AC controls, just under the vents.

Somewhere in the forum there is a page on a DIY ESP kill switch. I've done it to both JKs that I've owned and it is easy. The module that controls the ABS and Brake assists and traction control and all that is all powered by one wire. Interrupt that wire with a switch and BOOM, awesomeness at the touch of a button. I personally find this extremely helpful in the dunes, because ABS tends to freak out when trying to stop in soft sand.

The owner's manual mentions something about the "ESP OFF" button being only functional till a certain MPH (like 30mph I think) then turns back on for safety reasons. But even then, it doesn't disable the assists completely.

Exactly! Behind my house there's a huge open area and I love going about 40 and just tearing it up or even when there's 8inches of snow I felt like I was in a car. I can't wait to try it at the dunes though!

I haven't felt the need to drift in my Jeep. Probably just not enough snow or sand here.

Who is this to? A pic of the drifting in the snow, or a pic of the esp kill switch?
