The idiot light on my 08 Rubicon ESP/BAS and a jeep with squiggly lines are on. Can anyone tell me if this is a critical issue or something I need to have taken care of ASAP? If it is not critical, is there a way to disengage this until I can get back to my preferred dealer.

Is the abs light on as well? If yes then probably a break in one of the abs sensor wire harness if no they will most likely go out on there own after the jeep has been driven for a few hours

It is the anti skid control notification. The sensor will alert if you lose traction or start to skid then it will apply the brakes on the wheel(s) to bring the jeep back in line. It is a great technology/advance that will save someone's neck. Having said this, it can also alarm if your steering is not centered or if your alignment is off. I triggered mine after I lifted the Jeep. I used the info on this forum to straighten the wheel out. Took 3 tries. Now it's perfect.

If you didn't lift it and your steering is centered, the next thing to ask is if you feel brakes being applied. If not, then it could just be a faulty sensor as the previous poster said, but I would certainly get it checked out as soon as possible. Better safe than sorry...

Same thing happened to mine over the winter. It turned out to be a faulty wheel speed sensor on mine. Fixed under warranty.

If you have a Superchips flashpaq or OBD code reader it will tell you the specific code.

Not a big deal though. My dealer sucks,& were hassling me about a loaner, so I actually drove with mine like that for 2 months or so before I took it in.

Just keep in mind that your abs, bas, & traction control will not work till you get it fixed.

Same here, too. Both my lights come on after wheeling in water.
Usually they both go out a few hours later.
