Default ESP kicks in around corners?? -- Need some help!

Ok ...... I did search for this and didn't find anything -- looking for some help.

This past weekend I put on a 2" lift and bigger tires. Now, at times, when I bank a corner to hard, the ESP light kicks on and thinks I'm sliding on ice or something. It just happened this morning when I was turning into the office.

Anyone know what the deal with this is or how to stop it from acting up??
Thoughts?

Thanks!

There's several threads on this, here's a couple of the ones I watch.

If you do a search there are a lot of threads discussing this one. Lots of folks have had the problem, including myself.

Did you get an alignment after installing the lift? If not, that may resolve it. Check your tire pressure as well. Another option is to turn it off entirely. If you have an '08 the instructions on how to turn it off are in the manual or on a yellow addendum card. If you have an '07 you can get the TSB done to make this available to you. There is also a write up to install a switch to turn off the ESP.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the links! Every time I searched for ESP, it would tell me my search string was too short! .... weird....
I had it aligned on Sunday after the lift - but I will double check the tire pressure. Thanks again!

If you're searching for less than 4 characters (i.e., "ESP") you need to use a wildcard in the search string (i.e., "ESP*" where * is the wildcard). Good luck!

My 08 JK has a OME lift with 35", was aligned but still got an ESP brake hit in some slow turns. A real pain with cars on your tail going around an offramp and your front brake is grabbing. I did the procedure outlined in the forum to turn the ESP off. It took several times going through all the steps of procedure but I finally get it to deactivate.

So far I am very happy with the results of having it off other than I don't like that the yellow skidding jeep light remains lit on the dash all the time now.

Just for curiosity sake............

when you say " Bank a corner to hard " are you talking an EXIT ramp posted at "25" and you are doing "50 " .............. I would expect the computer to sense the roll of the body and forward momentum and kick the ESP on !!!

OR ..........are you talking and EXIT ramp posted at "25" and you are doing "30"............ I would expect it is over reacting in this scenario !!!

the ESP system is brought to the JEEP via the Chrysler 300 and Charger..........and these cars were touted to be able to do figure "8's" on a frozen lake and not lose control.....................

Please remember ( especially in the ICY ROADS of the north ) it is a safety feature to keep you from skidding off the EXIT RAMP and into oncoming traffic or out in a field !!!!!!

I have the stock 29's... If i'm pulling onto the highway even a TAD too fast, it'll kick in.

I imagine with the higher center of gravity it'll do the dame.

I seem to recall that centering up the steering also helped allieviate this.
Just my .02.

I have this issue as well since I installed my BB. My steering wheel was done immediately so that is not the issue. I believe it is just a center of gravity issue due to the height increase as stated earlier. Reducing speed has been my only fix thus far.
