Default Evap Canister.......

Needless to say, I tore off my Evap Canister last weekend..........

Has anyone removed it completely and worked around the gascap code or malfunction light?

Can't you just connect the 2 hoses and get the same vacume?

I've got a buddy of mine fabbing a skid up out of 7ga. right now. It will comepletely cover the evap canister and will tie up to the factory cross mounts for the evap canister. We'll be welding in cross braceing it also so it won't fold. If it works out right it "should" be pretty bulletproof. I'll get some pics of it next weekend when we install. I'm sure he'd make more if it turns out like I expect and anyone is interested. On my 2dr there just isn't enough room to relocate. I spent about 2 hours one night measureing and scratching my head.

Simple solution to the problem. Instead of mounting it to the bottom of the frame, move it to the top of the frame. I did this when I installed a 1" body lift. It raised it up 2"and now it is above the exhaust pipe and above the frame rails. If it gets hit now, then I really screwed the pooch. If you do not have a BL, then all you have to do is loosen the driver side body bolts and lift the driver side of the jeep. it will give you enough room to swap it out.

Damn I just did my body lift yesterday. Chalk up another project this weekend after the tuffy install. Great Idea. By the way when you did your body lift did some of the factory bolts have a retaining ring on them so if the came loose they wouldn't fall out. Mine did, couldn't figure out for the life of me why once they were loose they wouldn't come out.

Yes they have a retaining ring. It just takes a good yank to get them out. The BL was actually really simple. Tokk about an hour to do the hole thing.

Yeah once I figured it out I just used a pry bar. I was just curious becuase mine was a little different than the instructions. I didn't need to pull out the front o2. Mine had plenty of slack. Just curious if they made those changes mid year.
