Get a welder and practice, but then take this one to a pro. You can weld the LCA skids and such but leave the gussets on the axle and sleeves to someone with good equipment and lots of experience. The C's are over a 1/2" thick so you need a 220 welder to get good penetration. And as it was mentioned you don't want to cook your ball joints in the process. Other things to be wary of are if you don't disconnect the battery before welding on your Jeep you can fry the computer and if you don't connect the ground directly to the axle you can pit your bearings as the current passes through them.

 

What kind of paint is everyone using once the gussets are welded on?

 

I used the 3M weld through primer before installation. It is a cold galvanized primer that protects from rust and can be welded without contaminating the weld or burning/smoking. This protects the area that can not be painted once they are welded in place such as the back which become the inside. Then once everything cooled I just used a rustoleum black.

 

If you can, stay away from mig flux core. Use gas as a first choice.

Also, strongly consider 220 over 110 powered machines...
