Question exhaust and intake???

im pretty set on the Performance Dual Exhaust Cat-Back System by Gibson but i can still be swayed to a different one. Also for the Intake i was looking at the Brute Force Air Intake System by AEM but i have no experience with and exhaust or intake so help would be appreciated!!

When I looked at exhaust, I heard the Gibson on youtube and was thinking that I had to have it. My buddy found it on ebay for a good deal and I picked it up (single outlet). I will tell you two things,
---
1. Its louder than you think, when I first got it and fired it up it sounded good but as you drive around it kind of sounds like a pissed off Honda Accord.
2. The exhaust tip is not as nice as I'd like to see. It tarnishes under some of the weakest weather climates and requires a good polish once a car wash to keep its luster and chrome color.
---
Now for intakes, I've heard alot of good things about the Brute Force but I like the idea of having a protected airfilter such as aFe or Volant and I really like S&B. The biggest complaint of air filters is that you will suck in water just as you will suck in air. This is if you are using your jeep as a submarine. Look for good protection and if you are looking for an oiled/no oiled filter than you will want to do your research on this site.

I will tell you that this week I upgraded to a Volant intake and I am happy with the results. It did make my exhaust a bit louder but I do notice better pedal response and some better economy. There is an exhaust thread here that has sound clips for every exhaust made for the jk. I think its titled exhaust sound clip or something like that.

Hope I helped you out as I've been down this road not too long ago and I think I might have went a little quiter with the exhaust. Its not bad but would be nicer if it was a deeper tone.

My father's rubi unlimited has the gibson split rear with an airraid intake. Now that's loud for a jeep. Sounds like a V8 until above 2000 rpm and then it drones like a honda. I like it at times.

My 2 door has a drop in K&N filter with a flowmaster 40 delta flow in place of the stock muffler. Sounds beastly, but I'm deaf. So... I'm hoping my soon-to-come AEM Brute Force intake will give the muffler some more ballsy sound.

In my opinion, split rear exhaust look really good on the unlimiteds and 2 doors should stick with a single tip.

MBRP seems to be a hot choice for performance gains for a catback. Searching on these forums should give you an idea.

Is your JK mainly used on or off road? Are you looking for a deep tone, aggressive, mellow or other sound? It has been discussed in length that dual systems do not make power on these 3.8L motors...

If you have any questions about any of our products I would be happy to help you get exactly what you are looking for.

I've got the Volant intake, and I like it because it keeps the filter pretty well protected unless I'm in deep, deep water or something.
