Default Exhaust Recommendations

I'm in the market for an exhaust for the jeep! I want something that has a nice low growl to it. Performance and mileage increases would be a plus. What have you guys used and would recommend? Also, please give a small review on it and maybe tell how much you spent on it.

Dominion Offroad/JeepSWAG makes a very nice exhaust for the 3.8L motor. Cheap it isn't, and it requires that you move your evaporative condenser. But, Brett (business owner) tested all of the popular exhausts of the time and was disappointed with how loud they are. He wanted a very nice note, not a loud mall crawler pick-up truck sound. Since I spend a lot of time in wilderness places, I was also seeking a nice note, but not something that would annoy those who enjoy the quiet, or scare away wildlife. Brett's product is all stainless steel--every single bracket, bolt, nut, washer, weld, etc is stainless. It is an off-road muffler, placing the muffler where the evaporative canister was (you can buy a separate kit for that or cobble together your own answer), and keeping the exhaust line up higher where it's very unlikely to be damaged--even on the high departure angle rock. If you'd consider spending quite a lot more money than what your local muffler shop will charge, for a significantly better muffler with a much more subdued, but very pleasant, sound, then visit his website.

If you'd like to hear the note in real world use, check out this video I made, not necessarily of the exhaust, but it does let you hear what it really does sound like during certain parts ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A77-7i5DrpE You will have a better appreciation for the exhaust if you watch the video on something with a decent sound system. As with most of my videos, it was made to be watched on your living room TV, not your phone or computer.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds nice while be driven. Do you know if moving the condenser is necessary with all years from the JK, or just some years?

It is necessary. But I don't think Brett makes a muffler kit for the 3.6, so that is moot. I checked your profile before and thought you had on '08. No?

I just installed an axel back from aFe power and really like how it sounds. It has a nice deep tone at idle and low RPM, and is pretty quiet wile driving. Cost about $270 off of Amazon.

I have the dual Gibson on my 09
It is the loudest exhaust I have heard on a jeep and it has a terrible drone.
You have to get a hush power as well.
You will also lose low end power if you don't do this

I have the magnaflow dual exhaust. Not too loud but it has that low rumble. Very happy with it.

Just installed the pypes high clearance exhaust. Very reasonably priced and easy install. Love the sound not to loud but loud enough.

I've been running the Rusty's Offroad axle back for a few years..pretty happy with it. Especially for the price..about $170 otd for me (They're local for me so I picked it up). It uses a Cherrybomb Pro muffler..fully welded, similar to a Flowmaster. Its tiny compared to the stock muffler so even though its in the factory location it tucks up nicely. I painted it black so it really disappeared.
