Default Exhaust Regrets need help!

Ok i bought the Gibson split rear along time ago and i have to say i do like the sound and the look of it. But ive torn it off or bent it up every time ive wheeled in the past few months (been hitting harder trails). Who has the bes Relocated muffler that has a loud aggressive sound to it and wont get torn off in the woods? Ive done some searching and read about a few but im looking for a bolt on deal. I dont mind taking it somewhere but jsut curious. With that said anyone want to buy the gibson lol

You can relocate your exhaust... I mean you don't need to buy a new one

Could you use a Rock Hard 4x4 Muffler Shield, or make your own and modify it to allow the two tips to stick out?

Doesn't the split system have the exhaust coming out of both ends? Where would one relocate it to? That would be one trick relocation project!

Do you have a 2 door or 4 door? If you have a 4 door, Try CoolTech. They have a Magnaflow muffler with heat shield and a stainless tail pipe replacement. 100% bolt-on (except for the section of pipe to be cut out). I really like mine.

You could relocate it to the usual location in front of the rear axle and have it dump straight down from both sides. You might be able to weld a plug on one of the ends, but that might cause alot of backpressure.

I reaally like the MBRP relo kit, with their skidplate it should be bullet proof.

I think redneckjeep has a thread with his exhaust relocate done by a local muffler shop with some sound clips... Definitely less expensive than full kits if thats a concern

So I'm a little slow on the uptick here. What do you mean "the usual location in front of the rear axle"? Do you mean put it mid frame (approximately under the rear seat) where the other muffler relocations go? Do you really want to suggest exhaust gets dumped down at that point? It would reflect back up. Also, I would think the location would be questionable for an exit point as the fumes would be just behind the driver's door - safety might be an issue. I'm not sure the Gibson would even fit there. At least not very gracefully.

Just an opinion. I would think the OP has the right idea - dump the Gibson and get something that fits.

BTW - like the MBRP reloc skid plate!

Yep, I've just been talking with him about it almost the same thing he did myself.

I've got a sound clip of min in his thread on page 3 and he has his on page one.

I know many people who are running their exhaust next to the driver side frame rail, in front of the rear axle. That is, like I said, "the usual location". There really isn't any other location, if you actually stop to think about it.

Safety is not an issue. It doesn't "reflect back up" in any way, it simple disperses when you're parked, and when you're driving, it's obviously left behind.

Here's a picture for you to get an idea. It's on the owner of the forum's JK, and as of two weekends ago, he's still very much alive and jeeping without any trace of carbon monoxide poisoning.

And with regards to it not fitting, the magnaflow exhaust is bigger and fits fine on Wood's jeep. While the OP's 2-door has less room, it should still be fine:
