That MBRP system sounds really good, they have a clip on youtube, I think you can search for MBRP to find it

As an addendum to my first post.....since I've had their products on another vehicle, I have to give them a plug. The MBRP stuff is NICE. I had it on my Powerstroke truck. Great quality, and makes a power difference. At least on my truck, so the JK should be no different. I went the route I did for a couple of reasons. Cost was the biggest. Not that the MBRP stuff is expensive. It's a great deal for the money. I'm just THAT broke. Secondly, I have a good friend who owns an exhaust shop, so it was a no brainer. No, I didn't receive compensation for this shameless plug. I won't turn it down though. LMAO

Not a huge amount, but right in the range where it needs it, around 1500-2000 RPM. It's not a fancy mandrel bent system, but it does the job. You'd never feel the difference between die and block and mandrel bending anyway. I used a Magnaflow straight through muffler relocated under the driver's side, by the way. Here's my original thread with pics and a video to hear the interior sound level. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/new-cat-back-installed-73800/
I back Red up on this one as this is exaclty what I went with. Local shop 120.00 out the door. Still have allmy old parts too. I have a CAI and Hypertech and I still noticed an increase in power right away. IMHO it is not necessary to go the $500.00 route buying something off the net then pay someone to install. I really doubt there is a noticable diff. between the setup we have and a Gibson or whatever other brand. These motors just donot have that much extra to give. I am not knocking anyones choice by any means so do not get me wrong. I also had my exhaust dump down right after the EVAP so no more crushing the tubing between the frame and axel at full droop. WOL (eddie) has a similar set up by Rancho and he likes it as well. If anyone knows he does.

just my but have a shop do your own custom exhaust with whatever muffler you want. much much cheaper and you can run your pipes wherever you want. also you wont have the same exhaust as everyone else running around.

Default muffler

hey i just wanted to share what i did with my exhaust, well first of all i installed a magnaflow straight through bullet type muffler relocated under the drivers seat, im not sure what size the muffler is but its around 6" and looks like a cylinder, well after installing it, i noticed that it was too noisy and didnt sound the way i wanted it to, so i went to another muffler shop and they suggested that i add a flowtech raptor muffler in the stock location and that it could sound better, so i went ahead and had them install the flowtech in the stock location, keep in mind that i left the magnaflow installed where it was also, and wow, now it sounds awesome, its quiet yet has a nice little rumble to it, its a very low and deep sound, and the best part is that the flowtech muffler was only like 30 bucks, and it made a world of difference, i would recommend it to anyone who wants their jeep to sound nice, i wish i knew how to upload a sound clip of some sort, i couldnt have asked for a nicer sound from my exhaust.......

One thing that I believe hasn't been mentioned whether you're buying a cat back kit a relocation kit or fabricating your own, is staying away from dual exit exhausts. These will reduce exhaust velocity and scavenging resulting in a loss of power.

....and yet, ALL the ready made dual setups claimJUST the opposite. You gotta love good advertising.

FM super 40 for the win. parts and labor under $125. Cool sound an no loss of power is about all you can HOPE for with a minivan engine

Yes, for the power of this engine 2 and a half in dual 1.75" out would work fine. Kind of blows the cool factor and I doubt anyone would sell many.

More back pressure = more bottom end
It's all about exhaust gas velocity and the back pressure term is oft misused. The key being how fast I can get the exhaust gases flowing and where do they reach diminishing returns. It's also quite apparent that exhaust manufacturers largely don't use dynos to test and evaluate their engineering, they use them for marketing ploys trying to pull dollars out of your pocket. There are all too many bigger and fatter exhausts on the market that will clearly kill performance, but in the consumer and average Americans mind, it's bigger so it must be better.

Indeed, lots of different header sizes for different applications and varied primary tube length headers to get power over a broader horsepower range. The one caveat with headers in my personal experience on the JK, is the value of them isn't conveyed via the PCM. It has pretty much created a nightmare for me despite following all the exhaust flow and efficiency guidelines for my JK.

Not arguing with you gentleman. Just trying to shed light on what you are talking about in case there are those who don't know what it is you are talking about
Yeah it's all good and I don't think anyone is here to argue just help others avoid the pitfalls they have already fallen into. The biggest issue is dealing and working around the Chrysler ECM and that becomes a much bigger challenge than bolting on a set of headers. I've beat that horse into dog food however and the nearest hop on the horizon is the Superchips Flashpaq will provide me some solace and horsepower.
