Plenty of steel tube, a quality bender, a mig welder. etc etc..

As far as how long it will take I guess it just depends on how long you want to take to do it. Quality very rarely comes cheap, and it never comes quickly when it comes to fabrication

I love to build my own stuff for my Jeeps, but unless you already have the tools needed for this, you'll come out way ahead to farm this job out. Since this would be your first one, the finished product would likely be better if a pro did it too. Bending pipe seems as much an art as a science and takes time to perfect.

Minimum stuff needed off my head:
Bender ($500-$1000)
dies for bender ($200-$500)
welder if you don't have one ($500-$1000 ???)
tube notcher ($$??)
tube (steel is high now, this may cost you $500 give or take, depending on how complex you get)

See what I mean? Now if you have the cash and time and want to learn, go for it!! I love to follow along on these projects.
