Expanding a budget boost?
Hey yall,
I have a skyjacker spacer bb with the nitro shocks and want to go a bit taller? Is there any way to make it bigger (with larger coils or something) or will I need a whole new lift. As you can probally tell I didn't do the lift myself. (Note to all you are in the market... DO THE LIFT YOURSELF SO YOUR NOT CLUELESS LIKE ME)
Thanks yall,
Keith

You could add on to that and go taller, but then you will need to start looking into track bars, contol arm depending on how high u go, I say ditch the skyjacker stuff and get a TF 2.5" coil lift, will net u more than 2.5" and would be a good kit to add onto.Or just get some other complete kit. I made the mistake of getting an incomplete BB, but I will be upgrading to something better after I put on some new tires and a few other things. But I guess the most important question is what kind of driving you do with your jeep.
I'm not sure what all a skyjacker bb comes with, but if u do make what u got higher by say just adding some taller coils, you will need new longer shocks, sway bar links, and brake line extensions at least. But like I said, not sure what skyjacker comes with, u may already have some of that stuff. But changing to longer shocks would be a must.

You have a 2door X. Probably the least expensive way to go 'a bit taller' would be to find a set of 4door rubi coils. Watch the for sale section or your local craigslist, you'll find them cheap.
After you raise it a bit more, decide if the handling changes enough that you need to add more components.
-axles off center - adjustable trackbars or brackets
-flighty handling - one set of adjustable front control arms
-brake lines too tight - brackets or longer lines
-sway bars pointing down - longer links or adjustables
-coils overcompressed/tires rubbing fenders - extended bumpstops
etc...
get the TF shock extensions and 2.5" coils and do the brake line DIY bracket. you may also need a front track bar. if i were you, id sell the skyjacker kit and get the complete TF 2.5 coil lift kit with shocks and front track bar.. youll see about 3-3.5". check out my gallery for pics of my rubi with this setup.
thanks for all the replies thus far... if i could i would love to get something equal to the 3.5" suspension lifts which I know net more... would i be able to still use the skyjacker nitro shocks i bought if i got something like the rusty's 3.25 basic?

I reckon u could use them with some shock extensions maybe, otherwise u will need to look into some longer shocks. If u went with the TF 2.5" coil lift with shock extensions that would work and from what I hear net you closer to 3-3.5" on a 2dr
If you are moving up to a taller coil lift, it would be a good idea to go back and browse the faq's
