Default Experience with TreadWright tires???

Specifically their 33s. We all see debris from de-capped big rig tires every day on the freeways, but these tires get a lot of good press on the internet. Is the technology for passenger times re-capping better than that used for 18-wheeler trailer tires???

Default TreadWright tires

I posted a similar thread in the stock JK forum, but I really want info on these tires so I am adding one here too. I am looking at their 33s; but just can't shake the feeling that I would end up gripping the steering wheel a lot tighter while I am driving 70mph down the freeway. Any comments, esp from people that have run them, would be appreciated.

Not sure what you want to know, but I'm on my second set of Guard Dogs. 1st set were 265/75-16 on my stock steelies and I'm running 315/75-16's on ProComp alloys now. The most a 315 took to balance is 4 oz. I like them.

I love mine! I look at it this way: if they last half as long as the MTR/K then you still save money. And they are awesome in the snow!

Got about 1K on my 285/75/16 Guard Dogs on procomp alloys. AirSoft (8oz) in each. Seem to balance OK. I would recommend them.

You will get two answers.

1st ones are like the ones above, people who have them, or know someone that does and love them, no problems, great value, great tire.

2nd are the ones that don't know about these, don't run them, don't know anyone that does, refers to the "alligators" on the highways from tractor trailer retreads that typically fail due to lack of maintenance, like improper air pressure. Some comment will go on and on about how dangerous they are due to their knowledge of them back in the 60's and 70's with retreads or in racing tires.

Realty is that improper air pressure will ruin, cause blowouts, separation in ANY tire. I don't anymore, but I did for about 4 years, work for a trucking company, trailer tires are neglected big time, maintenance is typically done when they blow out! These tires continually get rated good, and no complaints come up.

The company does say, running low pressure does void their warranty, but so do most tires. Test by some of the offroad magazines, ran them on the trail with low pressure and had no problems then either.

They are probably in my future.

Got 1000 miles on my 315 guard dogs, so far they are great, i also was unsure about them but after much research and no bad comments i had to try them. They are a bit louder than my previous toyos though, but its a jeep!
