Another vote for the OR-FAB. Great product. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I agree with phljeeper about the rusting bushings, BUT . . . the ORF carrier is a very sturdy product that offers a lot of utility on the trail. 35" spare, Hi-Lift, 5 gallons of gas, and a powertank on mine.

My only irk is, it decreases departure angle. As high as the spare sits on the carrier, I dragged it going up Tailpipe Hill and Widowmaker in Moab. Not a huge item, you just gotta be mindful on steep climbs and descents.

I have the Or Fab without cans and will strongly recommend it.

No rattles & no movement with my 35s (on or off road).

I went with the canless version partially for departure/overhang factor (unlimited is long enough already to park in the city!) and partially because where I wheel on the East Coast gas is never that far.

I did have a rusting issue but Or Fab was overwhelmingly helpful and fast in resolving the issue. Their customer service exceeded my expectations.

I would definitely buy this product again.

I'll be getting the non-can version but i do appreciate the info on departure angle.

I believe I have heard absolutely no real negative comments about the OR Fab carrier. I like that the AEV will open with the tailgate, but I like the look and price of the OR Fab. Thanks to everyone that given input.

A little more to save now due my dogs vet visit, but it looks as though I'll be prepping myself for a tough install

i too will be getting the or-fab with the jerry can option because it is sooo useful and the added benefit of the jerry can holders , hi-lift jack mount and antenna holder as well but living in the east coast is a real pain with the rust issues but i wont let that deter my purchases but wonder isnt there some sort of a spray that can be used to help prevent rust? WD-40 maybe?

WD is too light.

S100 is fantastic. Not cheap at ten bucks a can, but it works well. You would have to be religious with it, but it would work to keep the pitting and surface rust at bay.

How did OR-Fab resolve the issue for you? Did they replace the bushings? You would think that instead of steel bushings, there is a plastic composite out there that could be used as a substitute with the same strength for the application. At the very least you would think they would at least treat the bushings either through powder coating or some other clear coat product.

Basically it has it's own bracket that installs behind the factory tailgate hinges. The carrier attaches to the side of that bracket and the weight is no longer on the hinges.
