OR-Fab Tire Carrier w/ AEV Corners
Well, the great guys at OR-Fab really took care of me. I really liked the design of their Tire/Can Carrier, and it was getting excellent reviews for construction and durability resulting in a solid and rattle-free product. I also had heard great things about the company/customer service... ALL are 100% true!
I PM'ed them asking if this worked with the aftermarket AEV corners that I have... considering that the corner somewhat wraps over the hinge. I assumed it would need some minor tweaking to work, but wanted their input. They assured me it has worked in the past, and that it can be done. They went a step further and told me to make the 2 hour drive from Phoenix and they would install it for me.

I have to say, the operation is VERY impressive! Their equipment and procedures are top notch. They have many VERY sophisticated machines including an amazing CNC laser cutter that is fully automated to pick a 4x8 plate of steel off a shelf, feed the machine and then spit out parts. They go way overboard in packaging their products and weigh the hardware bags, and even weight the end product packages again to make sure they are accurate. Everybody was smiling and friendly... It just was a very impressive atmosphere and operation.
Anyway, they ended up cutting and grinding the "lip" off of the AEV corner where it rolled up the side of the hinges. Hit it with some paint to prevent corrosion, and put everything together for me. Several guys from the company came back to check it out and chat with me for a while... including Jerry, the owner. The install was pretty involved. Now I know exactly why these things are so solid. Great product from a great company!
