Default OR FAB Tire mount question.....

Does anybody know how much farther the Jerry can version sticks out from the non can version?

Since getting the 35's there is no doubt I need to buy something quick. I currently ave no need for the jerry cans but it would be nice to have the option down the road if needed. I just don't want it to look stupid in the mean time....

I have the non jerry can version and I think the jerry can version sticks out 4" further. I remember when the non-jerry version came out, everyone was bitchin about it being about the same price and I believe Or-Fab said the only difference between the two was 4" of pipe I'll measure ours tonight; Im sure someone with the can version will measure and chime in too

Thanks......How do you like it so far? Is it hard to put on?......only 3 days with the new tires and I can tell it is stressing my gate so I gotta get on this pretty quick.

The Tire & Can version of our tire can sticks out about 6.75 further than the tire only carrier. This is to accommodate the Gerry cans and the adapter for the lip-less cans. BLY109 is correct about the material differences between these two carriers on the DOM tubing, the bends are different though.

I like it alot. Its very solid. The only issue I have is the main bracket on the passengerside. Its rusting like crazy through the powder coat. The road salt really hammered it this winter. The rest of the carrier looks perfect though.

Install was fairly involved, but not overly difficult. The hardest part was working inside the tailight holes. If I had a small 90* drill, like an air one, and smaller hands/arms; it would have went alot smoother.

I ended up running out to a local hardware store to buy a flexible bit extender which made it so much easier. You shouldn't have much trouble thanks to the included instructions and photo's from write ups here.

I gave mine a trial by fire (installed it Thursday night and headed down for the weekend in Moab on Friday morning) and it worked great, no rattles and it was nice to have the extra storage space by being able to move water/gas cans outside the vehicle and also bungie some gear on top of them.
