Default Fair price?

Hello- I was hoping to get some opinions on a couple items. I was at my local 4x4 shop today and feel like I was quoted one great price and one not so great so I wanted to feel out the JKF experts

1) asked about a lift and he said they would recommend a 2'' lift likely a TF BB. They said it would be about 700 installed and he recommended adjustable arms for about another 300. Is this fair? Also how difficult are the TF BB to put in? I am sure there are ample instructions on the forum. Do I need specialized tools and/or a lot of know how?

2) They had a mopar winch bumper with warn 9.5 mounted to it that was on a demo vehicle and they want 1200. Is this a good price? would I need lift to run this bumper.

Thanks!

Thanks! How mechanical are you? I could get some help from people that know more than me but I worry I would get it apart and then get stuck.

I paid $160 ($250 new) for a used TF 2.5" BB ... You can get a TF 2.5" coil lift for $700-$750. Neither are difficult to install. I would pay $700 even with installation for that BB. My advice, PM Teraflex here on the forum or pick up a used one.... $700 is a bit much for me.

Do you guys think I would need the lift before the bumper and winch? I think that the mopar bump with 9.5 winch for 1200 is good but cant do both right now.

I'm a aircraft mechanic so yeah I'm pretty mechanical. I heard about people do like a mod party you provide lets say pizza and beer and you get the help.

i'm fairly mechanical, but for that lift you really don't need to be. if you can wrap your head around the whole lefty loosey concept, you 75% there!

remove the sway bar links, lift the rig, place stands under frame. remove wheels, and lower shock bolts (upper on the rear). lower axle. pull the spring out (not tools needed). put spacer on top of spring. reverse.

use the stock scissor jack to push the axle down when doing the front. it apparently makes things easier.

Look in the JK Write-ups area. Stickied to the top is an index. Regardless of the brand, you will use the same basic steps for the install, so pick any of the write-ups. Basically just loosen stuff, pull the coil out, put the new spacer on top (or replace the coil, if you go with a coil lift), then reverse the steps to put it back together.

A little time consuming if you are installing alone and have never done it before, but not difficult by any means. You can also post up during the install with any questions you have or any problems that come up.

And yes, you can put the bumper and winch on before a lift. One thing to consider is that that is a lot of weight, and your stock front coils will sag quite a bit. If you add spacers on top, you will raise the front end, but your stock coils will still be compressed.

New front coils may be the better way to go.

As many are telling you, it isn't hard. If you put the bumper and winch on with a stock suspension, you will sag, big time, at least mine did. I installed a TF 2 1/2 lift and it took me about 6 hours total, and I was taking my time and enjoying the wrench time. It really is simple, read the directions, loosen the bolts where they tell you (control arms in my case) and go slow. There is plenty of information here on the forum! Just do it and have fun!
