Default Fairlead

I have a wire cable on my winch with a roller fairlead. Can I run a hawse fairlead with the wire instead? (I searched by my thoroughness while drinking is reduced by 100%)

Thanks buddy! I'm not smashed, but just have the 'numb face' feeling. lol I anticipate a small headache in the morning, but I should still be able to function.

Hmmm.... I'm looking around on sites and most of the fairleads say they are designed for synthetic rope. Know of any that are specifically designed for either?

Aluminum hawsers are designed specifically for synthetic winch lines. Steel hawsers are for wire rope. Fairleads are used primarily for wire rope. Synthetic line can become pinched on the corners of the rollers. I believe daystar makes a urethane fairlead for synthetic lines.

I just found this...

ht tp://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches-and-Winch-Accessories/Smittybilt-Hawse-Fairlead-by-Smittybilt.aspx?t_c=18&t_s=124&t_pt=5143&t_pl=1002 85

The basic Hawse fairlead is designed to guide the rope or cable to and from the winch drum. Great for the occasional user and preferred by the users of synthetic rope.
