I am not a huge fan of roller fairleads. Is it possible to use steal cable on one of those flush (Hause?) fairleads? I understand those are designed for synthetic. Just curious

I would think the friction would put a ton of additional strain on the winch as well as generating a ton of heat.

I would just use the roller fair lead or go to rope if you don't like the look of rollers.

I went to rope for a few reasons but now I have my unused roller and cable just sitting in the garage. Lol

Yes you can run a hawse fairlead with steel cable but it has to be made out of steel not aluminum. I run a steel one from warn
