Fully concur. Advantage of fairlead roller is just that, it has rollers and therefore reduces heat and friction that the synthetic line would experience while rubbing on a surface... Such as the 'standard' synthetic aluminum billet plate.

Common practice should be to keep your line and rollers free of dirt and debris (difficult while on the trail), any dirt or grime in either synthetic or cable will act as an abrasive. Ensure you give your line spool a good washing every now and then.
