i am looking at these in a 35" for my new 12 jkur. I am a little worried about the weight of them though. I really dont want to lose a lot of power/braking with a very heavy tire. I think the shipping weight for the 315/70/17 is 78 lbs.

Nailed a 4-5 inch deep 15 long puddle on the street at 55mph today...tires never left the pavement..I know this because I had (swerved to hit it) hahaha and it never hydroplaned or stopped turning, they evacuated all the water with the deep channels on the them..biggest problem was getting the water splash off the windshield so I could see where I was going haha...I'm sure the guy in the Honda ridgeline behind me wondered why I swerved to hit it while he went into the oncoming lane to miss it...haha..PuS*^y....so A+ in water performance

I am looking hard at the 285/70-17's wild peak/rocky mtns for my stock wheels (I know I will need spacers). I am torn between these and the Nitto Terra grapplers. I like the price and the reviews on the Falkens, my only concern is with the weight. The Nittos go at 46 lbs each while the Falkens go at 61 lbs each. 15 lbs at each corner is a considerable amount of unspring weight to consider. I have an 08 JKU with 3.73's and while I know this is not akin to putting on 35's, I am curious what kind of performance hit people are seeing with the Falkens and their heavier stature. I am coming off the stock SRAs.

Any experience or anecdotal stuff is welcome. Other than the weight, these tires look like a steal at this price, especially from DTD.

They are very heavy. My 35s are noticeably heavier than the 32" mud terrains. On my 2012 it dropped a notch on performance but the change in circumference is likely a big factor. So far I am happy with them and hope the extra weight translates to toughness on the trail.

While I am not driving a hybrid or anything, I am now beginning to think the 15lbs at each corner averaged over the life the tires may not be the way to go for me. Still thinking....
