Default Fan In Rear

Has anyone put a 12v fan in the rear of an unlimited?

I am starting this project tonight and hoped to find some ideas of placement, etc.

I used search but came up with alot of unrelated posts.

If you are wondering my reason...its for my dog. I have a net to keep him in the back but it gets pretty warm back there. JK is my daily driver so not always practical to have roof off...although both me and the dog prefer it that way.

Thanks in advance...

I have not tried that, as I no longer have a pet But I recently completed a project of adding my own insulated headliner to the JK. If you have a hardtop this works great, if not, disregard: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/my-insulated-headliner-project-92384/

I have an osilating fan in my 08 Rubicon Unlimited. I mounted in on the center support between the front and rear driver's side door. It sits up towards the head area but has no contact for the driver seat with seat all the way back. Nor does the door of window affect it. I wired it to an manual on/off switch on my dash. If it is super hot or cold I direct the air vents towards it and it works great. Fan was under $10.00 at Wal-mart.

Heh, that is definitely a lot cheaper than the route I took

Just make sure you sink a few dry wall screws carefully thru the plastic into the steel or the vibration of the fan & plastic will drive you CRAZY. Look before you drill to make sure you hit metal.
Good luck and give the lucky dog a cookie from me!
Now you need good seat covers.......

Have you thought about running like a plastic flex hose from a vaccuum from one of the middle dash vents to the rear? may be a good idea to duct it in front of the fan you are adding. If you are rear crafty you might can make one that pops the factory vent out and pop the hose in the same way? You know how it twist locks in. Just an idea.
