Default Fastener Queston--HELP!

How do you remove the fasteners that hold the grille and the air dam on? I want to re-use them, or I'd just cut them off.

Any trick to these things? I can't get the screws to come out even slightly.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

I got them off, but they don't look too pretty now.

I hope I can re-use them. I'm hoping the dealer doesn't get gouge happy with the replacements, if they are toast.

Thanks for the help!

I noticed some at lowes the other day that looked to be the same size. They were the exact in that they didn't screw in, but rather pushed in. Might be a cheaper alternative than the dealership and would probably work better for re-usability (is that a word)

I couldn't get any to "screw" out. Even while being careful the head got all messed up and no matter how many times I unscrewed it the screw did not back out. After prying them out I realize the plastic screw just pushes in ( not screw ). If you could grab the head of the screw it will pull right out, once the screw is out the other piece comes right out.

Seems like this is the week everyone is reomving their airdam.

Mine came out pretty ugly, but my trusty rubber mallet put them right back in! They seem to be holding as well as they did before I butchered them.

Thanks again for the help, guys!

It is kind of cool to be in your garage working on your Jeep and have your laptop right there on JK-forum to seek help. Sometimes it can be a pretty cool world in which we live!

The easiest way to deal with these stupid thins is to take a screw and actualy thread it into the plastic center, then just pull it out using the screw as a tab....works great and keeps them looking good if you plan on putting them back in.

Check out this copy from a Mopar installation manual for Mopar a skidplate. Looks like they are telling you what to do with the airdam in the lower left corner.
