Default Feeling Vibration

Hello,

I have a 2dr 2007 Rubicon with a 3.5 Rustys Offraod lift, 35x1250x17 Maxxis Trepador radials on Dick Cepek DC2 wheels. Recently had it regeared to 4.88. I feel a vibration when I step on the gas and it fels sluggish. My mechanic replaced my drivers rear wheel bearing and seal. The vibration is still there.

A lot of you guys have been around Jeeps longer than me, so any ideas what to check next?

Put it on stands and in neutral. Watch the yoke while you spin the tires. The crush sleeves on these are the hardest I have ever seen and I had one collapse unevenly once and caused the yoke to not sit straight and it vibrated like crazy until I replaced it. This is a spot to check especially if you just had gear work. The yoke should spin perfectly straight.

It could be a few things.
-brake pads could be more worn on one side that normally causes a pull when breaking.
-wheel alignment could explain the vibration.
-Check the magnetic bolt for your diff if there are metal shavings you diff is out of alignment that would explain the vibration as well.

I also just had a re gear and drove it for about 2 or 3 weeks with my 35s and no problem, the first time I put my stock wheels tires on I noticed a mild vibration when I hit about 80kmh, any idea what this could be?

The part where he says "feels sluggish" makes me think it's more than a driveline problem.

Default Noise Update

OK well today I was driving home and the rear started shaking and then there was a clunk and it won't move in two wheel drive. It's off to the mechanics I guess. Any ideas???

First I'd put it in neutral, engine off, and see if it rolls. Then I'd pull each wheel and inspect for something obvious amiss. I'd crawl underneath and check the driveshafts for no obvious failures, and to ensure seals are good and no evidence of thrown grease. If they look good, I'd drain the differentials and check for metal chunks on the magnetic drain plugs. Then ditto for the transmission and transfer case.

Default Problem Seems To Be Fixed

So my Jeep mechanic checked out the problem and as soon as he looked under it he found the driveshaft sitting on the skid plate? Was so aggravated that I didn't even see it. Well he replaed the CV Joint and no more noise.

Here's a pic, guess it was pretty messed up.

They can just replace the CV joint on these shafts?
