Fender Flare Question
Alright, took out the ol Jeep for the 1st time today and got the "usual" scrapes! Yeah me! Anyway went through a mud hole and heard a popping noise and looked back and my rear fender was hanging on with one clip. I'm not sure if I rubbed the fender itself or the fender liner, any thoughts? Anyway, so I popped the last clip out and put it up for the rest of the trip. After making it back home I decided to look up Flat Fender Flares and found the Smitty Built XRC Flares and the Rugged Ridge All Terrain Fender Flares. So, how much clearance will I get with either of these flares? Will the clearance be noticable? Any preferences from people that are running these particular flares? Just trying to do some homework before I pull the trigger on something like this. Anyway any feedback will be helpful! Ohh and its a 2011 4-door Sport...if that helps.
I've been looking at smittybilt and bushwhacker flat flares as well for same reason. You will get a ton of clearance. A friend of mine has a 3" lift with smitty flat fenders and upgraded his tires from 33 to 35 because the extra clearance made his tires look even smaller.

I've used a jigsaw with a fine tooth (more then 18 tooth blade )blade with good results, then do any fine finish cuts with a sharp razor blade. I've even used just a razor blade to cut them. Just take your time taping off where you want to cut them first. I also use a piece of sandpaper to round the edge so it does not cut you if you brush up against it. (I did not use the door trim)
