Default Fire extinguisher

Anyone find a good place to mount one yet? The small extinguishers can go pretty much anywhere, but I'm looking to mount a 5 lb. somewhere off the roll bar.

While it would be best to have it within reach of the driver's seat, my wife drives it, too, and needs to move the seat forward. I'm thinking of mounting it on the driver's side rear wheelwell, between the rollbar and the back seat. It would be up and out of the way of other cargo and more easily accessible from the left rear door, over the side when the top's off, and from the rear tailgate.

Any other thoughts? Anyone find a bracket better than the plastic ones that usually come with the fire extinguisher?

I mounted mine in a velcro/nylon strap holder contraption, and located it on the vertical bar next to the drivers seat, behind the bar. Pic 01 and 02 show this. I figure if I ever need it, I can recline the seat back and grab it.

Pic 03-05 are bonus pics of my 3 cell LED Maglite flashlight and mount over the drivers door.
It's nice to have a laser at work to play with

i was just looking at the 3 cell LED maglite - can you offer any opinions on it's brightness/longevity? compared to a non-LED maglite?

Thanks,
JS

It's very very bright, and very close to a white light, not blue like some of them are. Longevity should be almost forever, I've been messing around with LED's since they were available to the public and have yet to see one fail. Well, as long as they're not pushed past their limit........

It looks like it's strapped down tight, but it slips in and out quite easily. Good point though, maybe I should run a fire drill and make sure!!

Here's my fire extinguisher install, completed today. Just used a couple of big, black hose clamps w/ some rubber strips to prevent them from slipping and cutting into the fabric covered rollbar pads. Uhh.. yeah, ignore the "needs recharge" indicator... I'm having them recharged next week.

yes a Mt bike water bottle mount from Walmart
(my write-up)
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...nguisher+mount

also EK makes a nice neoprene one as well

also try to avoid mounting them vertical (like I did and the other in this thread) as the powder WILL settle and get packed at the bottom. Just every so often flip it over and whack the bottom of it till you can feel the powder being free again.

Where did you get that velcro strap holder? It looks solid.
