Cool Firestone Destination A/Ts

New member here. First of all happy new year to all.
I bought a wrangler 2015 sport about a month ago. I currently have the steel rims with LT225/75R16 Goodyear Wranglers . I bought a set of 17 inch rims like the ones pictured below from a Jeep owner.

I’m planning on plasti-dipping these rims black and getting new tires. I have two tire sizes in mind. I rather go with the bigger one since I like the look of bigger tires on a Jeep. I was looking at Firestone Destination A/T P265/70/R17 at first but I’m wondering if I will be able to use the P285/70/R17 on my Jeep with the 17 inch wheels i purchased separately without any issues? I don't want to do a lift and don't have the budget to get a set of wheels with low backspacing.
I have never done any off roading and I don’t think I will every do any crazy off roading, maybe some easy trials in the summer.
Will i have any problems?

The overall diameter of that tire is 32.8" with 11.5" sectional width........no problem. On stock rims you can actually run up to a 33.7" but you'll have some fender rub and will have to trim the bottom corners off your stock plastic front skid or just take the whole skid off.......that's coming from first-hand experience in a 2012.

Thank you for the info.
I don't know why but some people seem to have problems with stock wheels with a 285 others don't. Does that depend on the brand of the tire? I'm against using wheel spacers and I'm worried after i purchase the tires i will have some rubbing problems.

I hear some are having rubbing issues with 275 width tire. If you're totally against running spacers or don't have the funds for them now, I'd be careful with that width.

I have 285/70/17's on my 2010 jku. I was rubbing inside edge of tire on sway bar at about 80% lock when turning. I put on 1.5" spacers and no more rubbing. I was against spacers in my mind at first, but when properly installed, there is no real hazard. I torqued to spec and used blue loctite. I check torque on them when rotating tires. Haven't had any issues.

You won't have any problems. I have the same tires in a 285/70/17 as my winter tires.

My tires are Falken Wildpeaks 285/70/17 fyi
Possibly a street of same size would not rub? I don't know. I would plan on spacers anyway, the stance looks so much better on the jku. And, a wider stance = better stability.
