Not to burst your bubble, but if you are planning on replacing that much, you would probably be better off getting an x or sport and building your work to your linings. IMO rubis are for people who like to wheel but don't plan on doing as much to there rig, and from what you said you could end up replacing everything that you paid for on the rubi. Plus I think for the price of a rubi you could make an X look way better. I have a buddy with a rubi who paid 32,000 and my x has about 20,000 into it and I get way more compliments. Just a thought for you.

I hear what your saying and I contemplated just that. I'm really looking for the perfect lift/ tire combo that I can use with the rubis stock components and have no real issues

Yah, if you want the "looks" get a X or sport. There's no way you can build a x to perform like a stock rubicon without spending more money and then spending even more to maintain. Lockers, front d44, suspension, tires, sway bar disco, transfer case, 4.10s. The only way to maybe break even is if you can do all the work yourself and source rubicon take offs for axles, transfer case, and tires. Even then, you are exactly where a stock rubicon would be but you just busted your ass building it.

Now if you are planning on d60s or pr44s, regear, atlas transfer case, manual discos, and lift and tires right from the get go, it would be a waste to buy a rubicon.

So your saying buying a rubicon and lightly modding it to have better off road handling and crawling capabilities is a waste unless I full upgrade everything?

I'm just looking for better on/off road handling with a lifted machine. The rubi has my attention for it's already out of the box upgrades and the locking diff.

I doubt that. I'd say that more people are running a 3" lift with 35s than a 3.5".

I think you mi understood his post. A Rubi is GREAT! Many people on here will tell you they are a waste of money. The truth is it would take a lot of money to get an X to Rubicon level. I think a Rubi is just what you are looking for. If you get a 2.5 lift and 35s, you will have a very capable vehicle. Oh I almost forgot, you will need new wheels or spacers to run 35s on any JK.

That's what I was thinking also. I misunderstood.

I'll troll around, ask my idiotic questions, lol and make my decision on which route to go with.

Rubicon 100%

Just looking for the best 3-4 inch lift without any hassles with drive shafts, gears etc.

I want a fairly maintenance free jeep that is great on the road and off, without sacrificing speed for highway use.

Is there are noticable difference between stock rubicon rubber and 35 inch tires?

there is a big difference between a stock 32 and a 35, its alot more strain on your drivetrain. I run stock 32s when i go get my jeep inspected and the mpgs go from 13 with the 35s to 17 with the 32s. and i can go up a hill without downshifting with 32s.
