I am new to the JK World; less than a week actually. However, I have a bad disease and from my wallet is where I bleed. I now realize what people have talked about.
None the less, I have some "Mopar Credit" that I need to settle with my dealership (about $700). I have a nearly loaded 2008 Unlimited X w/ factory locker, e-disco, 32 inch tires.
I am in the marked for some rock rails as I have nothing there now. I originally intended to go with the factory rubi ones, but there are 48 on order and 0 in production. So, I am debating on going with the Mopar Rubicon Rub Rails; just like the factory ones with tubing welded to the side. I have really liked the Shrockworks Rails for the same price, but I basically have free money here. My question is does anyone know if these are comparable quality to the aftermaket brands (mainly the one previously mentioned).
Second, I saw a lifted Jeep yesterday and got bitten by the Bug. I can afford a lift, but I am concerned on what it would look like with stock 32 tires (can't afford to do both). I never plan on ever going over a 35 inch tire and will likely run 33s when I do get new tires. My second question is, what lift will look great with both types of tires?
If the 2nd question is "Don't lift ujntil you can do both", what are other things that I need for offroading?
Sorry about the long post and thanks for reading.

I feel your pain. In fact I feel it so strongly I'm gonna have to order somethin' for my JK.
A 2"-2.5" lift should work with every tire you've listed. I lean towards Old Man Emu 2", but there's plenty other good ones out there. I don't know about the Mopar sliders, but the Shrockworks can sure take a beating and still look good. Welcome aboard.

If you can get the new Rubi rails with the tube steps, I would. I have seen them and they look sweet. Also, having run the Rubi rails on the trail, I can tell you that they are very tough. As far as lifting your Jeep goes 32", install a 2" budget boost and I can assure you that it will look great! I ran this setup before upgrading and I was very happy with it. Here's a shot of what it'll look like...
I fill your pain. I just bought a new 2 door X and the only thing I've done so far is installed mud tires. I've been away from modding 4X4's for close to 25 years and never was into it big. So much has changed. So much to choose from. I'm having trouble desiding where to start so any input would be appreciated.
Rock crawling will be most unlikely, mostly muddy bottom conditions and steep gravel/sand or clay roads.
I was thinking for starters a 2 inch lift and the best prices I have found so far are on the Warrior and Skyjacker brands $275/$274. After shipping and handling the Warrior would be about $18 more. Which is the better deal?

About the swaybar links, I have the Factory e-disco w/ the locker in my X. If I am adding a 2" or 2.5" BB, do I need to look at any extensions for my swaybar links or will everything be fine?
a few more things...
make sure you get some good swaybar disconnects.
stay away from trackbar relocation brackets on the axle end (included in some lifts), unless the stock bracket is re-enforced somehow.
front lower control arm bracket skids (weld-on) are also a good idea. seen some folded over control arm brackets recently posted here.

Well, I went on an ordered the Mopar Rub Rock Rails and they should be here next week. Now I just need to plan my lift. However, I think I will go with the TF 2.5 BB as I do not want to go 3, but could possilby go higher than 2".
I think I may be in need a support group

For a lift with 32's I'd recommend the Full Traction 2" budget boost. It's 2" in front, 1.5" in the rear. Just do not use the Track Bar relocation bracket. It does not need it, and it's throws the geometry off.
I think this kit looks great with 32" tires. I think the TF 2.5" is a bit tall lookin for 32"s. And the price is VERY right, at about $120.

I'm not sayin somethings not right but it's strange that it would happen on the 08's.
Anyone else get "Mopar Credit"?
