FIRST Wrangler!! need some advice!
hey guys, i just got my new wrangler altitude last month, and oh man am I in love! Im gonna post some pics up on here, even thought its only stock
Anyways i come from a line of sports cars so all this truckin is new to me, but im enjoying every mintute of it. Anyways i want to do a lift on it and my dealer says anything 2" and under wont void the warranty. After researching around im pretty much decided on the 2" BDS coil lift and i really like the Nitto trail grapplers. I dont want to remove the stock rims because i like how they look and i did pay for them after all. Bottom line question would it be possible to run 295/70/18 trail grapplers with my stock rims, BDS lift, wheel spacers (size?) and most likely the adj. rear track bar?? any suggestions or tweaks really would help. I was considering the spacer lift too as i dont do any crazy wheelin, but i figured if i dished out for the altitude why chince out now. Thanks guys, lookin forward to sharing some stories with everyone!
Tire specs are 18x 7.5

Welcome to the Forum. You're going to have so much fun with your new Jeep. Unlike the sports cars you had in the past you're not limited to just paved roads. If you want to run those tires on your stock rims, all you need to do is buy quality wheel spacers. I have been running SpiderTraxx spacers (1.5") and never had any problems with them so as long as you install / torque them properly.

.....Forgot to add, but at 2" of lift you won't need any track bar brackets or adjustable track bars. That minimal lift won't cause too much shift on your axles. If you are set on purchasing the 2" BDS lift, it looks like you are good to go with what's in the kit....Having front quick sway bar disconnects are optional and very convenient when you do take her offroading and want to get the most out of your Jeep flexing, etc....
I just noticed the 2" BDS KIT has cam bolts. Do a search on the horrors of using cam bolts. My suggestion is install the kit without those cam bolts and see how your Jeep drives. The cam bolts are used to correct your castor. I have a 2.5" lift and I am not using any cam bolts and the Jeep drives fine-does not wander. You can always purchase adjustable front lower control arms if you need to adjust your castor, but I highly doubt it....

thanks alaman for the help and welcome! yea unfortunately i was always thinking about lowering vehicles and not raising them hah. I just figured the BDS would be the best product for me to use with fairly simple requirements and staying compliant with the warranty. What is the advantage/disadvantage of not using the cam bolts and how will that effect me without the adj. control arm? also if you have any other suggestions for a better 2" lift please let me know !
I have BDS 2" coil lift. I run 33s. (Sorry, not stock rims). I am running 4.5 offset.
The lift I got last year did not use cam bolts. Maybe they changed the kit?
I love the set up. Handling is near stock ride. Not splashy at all.
Only thing I wish I would have gone 2.5" lift or a slightly smaller tire. I had some minor touching of the rear wheel on my rubicon rails when more aggressive wheeling. Easy fix is to cut about an inch off rubicon rails in the rear.
FYI. Many tire shops will not mount tires if you plan on using spacers.
Good luck and enjoy your new toy.

......Cam bolts are an economical way to correct your castor after lifting a vehicle. The disadvantages to them are:
-They could work themselves loose
- to install them they require you remove some metal from the control arm bracket (see pic),
- if you decide to install adjustable control arms the hole you created has to be repaired. Some have welded a washer as a fix,
- lastly, they may not provide an accurate way of adjusting your castor.

As I mentioned before, at 2" lift castor shouldn't be an issue. I have a 2.5" lift and am still using the stock control arms. The Jeep drives great and doesn't feel flighty. Other 2" kits I can think of the top of my head are:
-Rubicon express
-OME
-Rusty Offroad
-AEV
-TeraFlex (their 1.5" performance leveling kit)

so then i'm a little worried now that i plan on pretty much having the same tire size as you but with the extra inch in diameter of the rim and about half inch more backspace then you with the spacers on. also completely off topic, i tried setting it so it notifies me when someone posts on my subd threads but they're still not appearing so i have to manually check to see if anyone posted. i dont wanna lose focus on the jeep but that would certainly help
