My thoughts are that this sort of stuff, if it really worked to do everything they claim, would have been licensed by auto makers trying to one-up the competitors and/or meet CAFE standards.

If not the auto makers, then it'd be in wide spread use by fleet operators such as UPS, Fedex, other delivery companies, taxi companies, etc.

Anyone have any truly objective research / studies on this sort of stuff?

do you think the military is really concerned about mpg. not to dis but if it was that easy to get better fuel milage it would come stock. i've yet to here someone say they really work.

No we don't use them. We use fuel filters specific to the fuel we are using like everyone else.
